You have a split infinitive.
And? That doesn't make it grammatically incorrect.
quote:
What’s wrong with split infinitives?
Some people believe that split infinitives are grammatically incorrect and should be avoided at all costs. They would rewrite these sentences as:
She used secretly to admire him.
You really have to watch him.
But there’s no real justification for their objection, which is based on comparisons with the structure of Latin. People have been splitting infinitives for centuries, especially in spoken English, and avoiding a split infinitive can sound clumsy. It can also change the emphasis of what’s being said. The sentence:
You really have to watch him. [i.e. ‘It’s important that you watch him’]
doesn’t have quite the same meaning as:
You have to really watch him. [i.e. ‘You have to watch him very closely’]
To split or not to split?
The ‘rule’ against splitting infinitives isn’t followed as strictly today as it used to be. Nevertheless, some people do object very strongly to them. As a result, it’s safest to avoid split infinitives in formal writing, unless the alternative wording seems very clumsy or would alter the meaning of your sentence.

7th grade and he can't take time to spell. Should be counted off.
quote:No, in the grand scheme of things this is irrelevant
You do understand this is to make things better for him in his future,
quote:Funny you mention attention to detail. The principal did as well. Ironically, the teacher missed a much more obvious spelling error in the assignment.
Attention to detail is important in life for most people to be successful.

I had no problem at all understanding "atleast ik my dog nvr guna leave me"
Let me put it in white speak for you:
"At least I know my dog is never going to leave me."
If you guys could drop the racist, cultural denigration, you would see that this is a person who loves their dog. He conveyed emotion and thriftiness all within the confines of the English language.
But I guess this is all too much for the Puritanical Grammar slaves. Expand your mind bro.
Oh shite, you got me there.
Honestly, I had no idea that "ik" means "I know." Hence the point I'm trying to make.
Sorry I didn't stop to "expand my mind" in order to comprehend the meaning of an eight-word Facebook post. Most people don't have time to deal with that shite, unless they're reading Keats or Hume.

What are your qualifications besides having a stupid kid and not being able to spell correctly to make that determination?

So, it's only -5 per misspelling?
As long as your son knows how to spell the word "introduced", and only misspelled it because he was writing too quickly, it isn't a big deal. Tell him to take his time next time, and that getting a 90 isn't a big deal.

Hey moron. I'm not being graded on a message board for spelling. Auto correct isn't an excuse, not to mention a message board is completely informal, so spelling really doesn't matter. That point is probably over your head.
So now you are attacking people that are advocating for your child to be held to a high educational standard? Great tactic. I'm sure you'll sway many to your side.

Can't spell introduced at age 12-13. Are you sure?

This is the problem. The teacher is making him learn to spell properly and making him learn there are penalties for not doing so. SO next time, i bet he checks his spelling. But you see it as "unfair". Intelligence is inherently unfair. Some kids are smarter than others. Some are born that way, others learn. Your kids teacher is trying to teach your kid to learn, and you are mad about that...

My son's teacher counts off 10pts per misspelled word by arcaladesHe's in the 7th grade. That seems far too much. Does anyone agree? He used 81 words and got a 90 for leaving off one letter (itroduced). The principals both stand behind the teacher on the issue. At least 2 students got 70's for misspelling words.
This...THIS...is what the frick is wrong with this country.
With ALLLLLLLLLL that is available now for kids to help them spell, it should be a no-fricking-brainer that they should spell correctly for class assignments.
Your issue, sir, should not be with the teacher/school, but with your son. Hell, actually, there really should be no issue at all...with anyone.

Not sure why you are laughing unless you are laughing at your ignorance. Are you saying I should have stayed in teaching and passed on an opportunity to make a lot of money? Or are you saying I'm lying?

I truly hope you aren't passing on these "traits" to your son. You are essentially saying that anyone that doesn't believe what you say or agree with what you say is stupid. That is the argument that children or adults with mental issues use.
