I'm sorry for you but your kid knew that shite was illegal and there are consequences if you're caught with it. I don't feel sorry for him.

It doesn't matter if "It should be legal". It's illegal. Pure and simple.

SC marijuana laws
Misdemeanor: Under 1 oz.: 30 days and/or $100 to $200

There's something here you're not telling

I'm saying that in the eyes on the law, Marijuana should be treated the same as alcohol and 19 year old kids shouldn't go to jail for 90 Days for a first possession offense.

Are you saying that because the sale of alcohol isn't controlled well that Marijuana should just remain illegal for that reason?

Lawyer in Greenville's website says the same thing

3 months in jail for half an ounce is not factual. It is impossible. There was some other charges

The details are trickling out in the thread. It's starting to sound like he got a misdemeanor probation revoked with a new drug offense. I can't tell for sure. That would explain the sentence.

Well there's something that he's not telling you. He may have been caught with it before and didn't tell you.

Always get a lawyer, the judge probably took no lawyer as a sign that your son was not taking the charges seriously.

Why no lawyer?

Were you present?

Did he run his mouth?

What are his chances of doing the full 90?

I'm thinking this happened when he was pulled over. Probably lied to the officers when they asked if he had anything in his car. Said there wasn't anything and when they searched his car there was.

Sorry to hear that. Breaking the law does make one vulnerable to the judgement of The Justice system. Has he considered maybe following the law or moving somewhere more conducive to his lifestyle? I mean Colorado beats the shite out of just about anywhere anyway.

Funny you say that a friend of his texted me earlier saying he'd probably only do 40something days or so. Idk though

If he really had no priors that is BS. There are plenty of thug criminals from the ghettos in NO that could use those extra 90 days

Put some money on his books and tell him to keep his mouth shut and keep to himself.
