My roof is leaking, need help

During the rain yesterday, water began dripping through the vent in my hallway where the AC collects air. Its the one where you have to change the filter, not sure the technical name
I'm assuming my roof is leaking in some capacity? How would you get into that area of the AC? Anybody have a recommendation on someone affordable to call and remedy this?

I doubt it is your roof. You may have a leak in the drain line for your AC close to your return air. Best way is to go into the attic and check it out

OK sweetie, you see that string hanging down from the ceiling? Pull it to reveal a ladder. Climb up it with a flashlight and walk/crawl towards the leak.

Likely not your roof. You have an issue with your A/C drain pipe or drip pan. Locate the source of the leak then fix it. Shut off your A/C in the meantime.

If the water is inside that ductwork, it's probably some sort of condensation issue. Is it leaking through the ductwork, or around the sides of it and just finding its way into the house around the return air grille?
Check in your attic and see if that duct (it's probably not much of a duct, just a section of your package unit) is wet on the outside.

Leaves once clogged my gutters causing a leak in the house. Cleaned the gutters and everything was fine.

Tell your husband to go up in the attic and look at the drip pan for your A/C. It's probably full.

If it truly is a roof leak, it's likely coming from an vent pipe sticking out of the roof. Spray some flex seal al around the area where the pipe meets the the roof.
