Agreed. Being honest about the "why" is important. That will be interesting though, whether society sees this as a subtle tech reset.

I think the point is, people are actually spending time with their families. This is a good thing. I know that we depend on the economy to live life the way we see fit, but people spending time with their families and getting outside walking/biking/etc. is a good thing. And when the economy goes back to normal, many of these people will be so stressed out about meeting work goals, or their stupid bosses, or their dumb arse commutes that it will go down.
People love to preach that family is all you have, yet in the same sentence talk about how important the economy is. Whether you want to believe it or not, those two things are currently antithetical.

I agree with all of this. However traffic and tiktok and this generation begging for attention in every aspect of their life just wears me out and makes me miss the 90’s even more.

Horrible, isn't it? I used to be one of the few people to go jogging in my area but now the sidewalks are littered with these miscreant children!

I grew up as a kid in the 50's and 60's and you couldn't keep me inside unless it was cold and rainy. In the summertime I was always outside from the time I got up and dressed until dark when I had to be home.
My days were spent riding bikes, roller skating with those steel sidewalk skates, playing ball with cousins and neighborhood kids, fishing on the river, etc.
I can't tell you how many hours I spent under our old shotgun house digging in the dirt finding old bottles and staying out of the sun during the summer months to try to stay somewhat cool.
There wasn't that "paranoia" back then like most parents have today about letting their kids venture out into the world alone. I remember being 8 and walking to the bus stop to catch the Public Service bus to head to school.

I've seen more people riding bikes in the last month, in my hood, than I've seen in the last 2 years.
