Exactly. I have terrible thyroid problems that make my weight fluctuate, I take medicine but likely need surgery to get it removed.

what if you get hit by a bus?

The metro bus of fate.

When I was super healthy and 19, I got hit in the eye by a champagne cork at a party. My eye immediately filled with blood and I was instantly blind in one eye and in extreme pain. Spent three days in the hospital being still and letting the blood drain before they decided I would not be blind or need surgery.

I had already moved out of my parent's house and their policy didn't cover me because I lived elsewhere.

Then, my second child was born with cerebral palsy. Blue Cross fricked my entire firm with a series of massive increases in premiums, so I left my own firm's insurance to go on my wife's policy because she worked for the state.

My healthy lifestyle hasn't saved me from crushing medical expenses, ever.

That's not fate. That's a preventable accident caused by an idiot not knowing how to open a bottle of champagne the right way.

I'll be sure to tell him if I ever find out his name.

You should. It's written on the bottles of popular value brands that are most likely to be purchased by people who don't know how to open for that very reason.

My plan is to stay healthy as well.

Not getting sick is the #1 way to avoid doctor bills.

Sure because being healthy means you 'll never get ill. I mean viruses, bacteria, infectious diseases, kidney stones, cancer, MLS--only fat out of shape people get those...

Staying in shape, eating right, not smoking, etc reduces your risk greatly though. There's a reason why people who fit those categories pay more for insurance. Because they use it more.

True, but it's hella easier to influence it for the negative than for the positive.

That's the GOP Health Care Plan. It has one line on one page:

I.
A.
i.
a. Don't get sick or injured.

I'll start eating healthy after my first heart attack. If the first one kills me, then I will die happy with a 16 oz. sirloin in my belly.
Keto is actually one of the healthiest ways to eat. Eat the sirloin just skip the bread and sweets and you good. And if anything, get the ribeye.

Drawing a bad hand in the game of genetics is a great reason to adopt a healthy life style, why make a bad situation even worse.

Right on.

The overwhelming majority of obese people are entirely at fault for their own disease. Despite what many people claim in victimhood 2017, most people are capable of maintaining a healthy body weight simply through diet and exercise alone. Also, despite what many people claim, eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive.

The most common cause of death (cardiovascular disease) as well as several of the most common cancers are at least somewhat preventable through lifestyle alterations.

Sure. You can be a boy scout all of your life and still die of something rare, but that’s no reason to simply give up and amplify your odds of early demise.
