I wouldn't be surprised if my views are different on this than many people's, but it just seems incredibly irresponsible the type of money that some people spend on weddings. Unless you come from a wealthy family $80k would go a long way towards establishing yourself and your new marriage, instead of spending it on what is essentially just a big party.
Weddings are for the bride. They don't care about these things.

I don't think I'd give a shite if this happened at my wedding. Could see why the bride would be angry. I'm trashy as hell though

No, they actually had about $1000 left over that they applied to their honeymoon. They saved lots of money by buying flowers in bulk and doing their own arranging (great pre-wedding event for the wedding party, my wife made the dress (she wants to do that to all our daughters as her special gift), wedding was outdoors in fabulous rose garden, etc. It can be done and made every bit as memorable (we still have friends talking about how nice the wedding was, and it was 5 years ago).

Go to their wedding and do something stupid when they are about to exchange vowels. Something that everyone will be talking about the rest of the night. There all even two weddings ruined.

If social media taught me anything, it's never believe a picture of black text on a white background. Only reason this was wrote was to humble brag about an $80k wedding.

You could always get drunk and put your dick in the punch bowl at the reception. That would suffice.

Also, "$40,000 for his half of the wedding"? It was an $80k wedding? Total waste of money.

Dumb.

Could buy a starter home outright for that in some places.

We went to our friends' Indian destination wedding in Portugal last year. It was a once in a lifetime experience. They know how to throw down

How would you handle this situation?

If someone proposed during my reception, id be pissed for a long time.

If someone interrupted the ceremony before the vows to propose and announce a bastard child, i'd beat the shite out of him with his fiancés head.

Easy to have a good, an inexpensive, reception. Other people at the office can cook the food. Get a friend to DJ. It can be done.
