Congrats man. What weight did you start the program at? What are the expectations as far as how much of that will stay off after switching back to a normal diet?

800 calories per day is about the same as the initial phase of the Ideal Protein diet. Hmmm.....there is something to that. Any answers, Wink?
I don't know much about the Ideal Protein diet but in the research world, we call these types of diets, low calorie diets (LCD - 1,000-1,200 kcal/day for women and 1,200-1,600 kcal/day for men) and very low calorie diets (VLCD - below 800 kcal/day). Both have been shown to be very effective in achieving weight loss in obese individuals. It is HIGHLY recommended that anyone doing either of these, especially the VLCD, be medically supervised. There is still some worries that a VLCD is not a good choice for some diseased groups although there are a few studies showing that it is safe. Also, there have been some negative side effects to the VLCD, gallstones being one of them.

I've lost around 70 this year. Wasn't near as bad off as you were but it truly is gratifying

Good for you for not giving up on yourself man. I know losing weight is very tough but if you put the time and effort into doing it, it can be done. Glad to hear your story and I wish you nothing but the best. Keep on losing that weight.

so what happened between month 4 and month 12? were you maintaining or did the rapid weight loss taper off?
Also, what did Pennington want in return? Liver samples from you?

I am happy for the fat frick. He might be able to see his dick if he sucks his gut in. But nobody lives on 800 kcals a day. Unless they have to.

I ate around 1200 calories a day during my first few months and I was exercising heavily. Didn't realize how dangerous it was. Young and dumb

There you are.

Thanks for your response. Can this info and/or links to these studies be found through the Pennington website?

FYI, I remember sitting in 40something degree temps in the lab there, wearing nothing but a bathing suit 20 yrs ago for a study looking at metabolic responses to cold exposure

They have some information on their website. Almost all of it will be in regards to research that they have done and not necessarily research from other institutions. They are always having seminars and educational events that are open to the public. Definitely check those out. That way you can meet and talk to someone one on one.
