to remove cabinets in his home until he takes a look at them. Any other adjusters say the same thing? I don't get this, meanwhile mold is growing....

That is what the adjuster told my brother.

Seems reasonable to me, let the people that will write a check do their job.
I get the impatience and want/need to get moving, but I don't see a problem with the insurance company wanting to do its own assessment.

We waited to speak with him due to us not getting a ton of water. Wanted to see if they were ruined or salvageable. I would try to reach out to your adjuster ahead of them viewing home and see what he says. Ours told us on the phone to do what you gotta do.

If you need to remove something because of safety before an adjuster comes out, make sure to document everything well. I would take video of all the damage and make sure you can prove the day you took it. Include a shot of a newspaper with date or another phone with time and date In your video.

I could understand if this disaster was isolated and the adjuster could be there in a day or two....but no time frame for him to show up.

Exactly. My adjuster won't be here till next week sometime. My water was gone Tuesday evening. Was I suppose to wait a week? Nooe I ripped that shite out every cabinet I ripped hour had moisture behind them.

You're either:
A. An adjuster
B. Didn't flood
C. Both A and B

I know there's drywall behind the cabinets at the house we demoed. Seems like the lowers have to come out.
Posted on 8/19/16 at 8:12 pm to Jcorye1
Plenty. We only took out the lowers.

it was many weeks before our adjuster came post-Katrina and I oculd not wait forever. I took lots of pics and saved samples of cabinets and Corian countertops. Got paid for formica.

When you think you've taken enough pictures - take just as many more

I'm A and B. Document as well as you can and if you try to pull them, try to do it without demolishing them (just in case they don't pay for them (don't know why they wouldn't but)).
You have a duty to keep further damage from occurring, and the Sheetrock behind the cabinets isn't drying with the cabinets there. Gotta pull them to get to that wet Sheetrock and insulation.
Nguyen Nguyen.
ETA To clarify, if I were in your shoes I'd pull them out. I'm not telling you to, just telling you what I'd do.

Document. Document. Document. Pics and more pics. Let them pay for more damage.

I spoke with a contractor today that said some inspectors WANT to see that you made some effort at getting things dry.
You don't need to gut the place, but they may give you a better check if you show some initiative at trying to open walls and such.
Regardless, there is so much conflicting information going around right now that it is hard to know who to believe.

FYI, all digital photos retain a time and date automatically. If you right click on the file and select properties it will give you the info. Also, if taken from a phone or gps enabled camera it will also have Lat and Long coordinates. Only caveat being they must have been taken when you had cell signal.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That better not be true.

What was the premium that has been paid based on? They should know what the replacement value is or shame on them

Or tape the damage and without stopping, a live TV program.
