Long term I think it survives. Its too valuable to too many people.
TWitter has never turned a profit. Ever.
And now it's being exposed that what little revenue it did receive from ads was also based on fraudulent numbers of ad-views.
Tell me how that company survives now, without some private billionaire benefactor (or government benefactor) to keep the lights on. Explain it to me.

Gonna be on Musk to prove they lied

What about all those companies that paid for ads based on user numbers if those user numbers turn out to be fraudulent?
I think they're gonna be coming for their pound of flesh, too. Those Twitter execs have to be trying to figure out how to frick each other over at this point because if those user numbers were fraudulent and they charged for ads based on lies, whoever is left holding the bag is going to prison.

In the 4th quarter of 2017 it turned its first profit of $91M.
Twitter has 376M users, even if the number was show closer to the true amount of users it has.. Lets say half of 376M that's still a valuable amount of people.
This year's super bowl had just over 110M viewers and it cost companies what? Over $1M for a minute of air time to advertise in the first half of the game? So you tell me, when you have a platform with just under 200M people, in which its active 24/7.. You tell me how they survive. It is still valuable.
If the advocate can stay in business and make a profit then twitter would have no problem doing so (and before someone says that's comparing two different things, they both depend on advertisement).
You think all of the ads you see on twitter that specifically target individuals is something that twitter does for free?

It’s honestly incredible how terrible your comparisons are

You are so dumb and oblivious to the conversation being held
This thread is not about TWTR's ability to generate a profit, as low as it may already be. It's that the "profits" generated were from advertisers who may have been misled about the actual number of legit users, which means they were paying for somwthing under a false pretense.
If this is the case and TWTR has a significantly less amount of active users than what advertisers were paying to reach, then there will be mulyiple class action lawsuits against the company in addition to current advertisers lowering or pulling their spend from the platform. The company would likely sink unless management and the board was completely gutted.
Ok I've spent enough time educating you for tonight, got more important things to do such as drink and watch TV.

rather than asking a message board, has it ever occurred to you to take 2 seconds and think to yourself about why this is?
the NFL can prove to advertisers almost exactly how many people are watching something

The advocate doesn't turn a profit, it has a billionaire owner who runs it as a hobby

I haven’t looked it up in years. When I did need to look it up, any material misrepresentation even in negotiations was grounds to vitiate the contract. That may have changed, but I doubt it.
