Murder of local “celebrity” Scott Rogers - ID’s “Lies That Bind” episode

It’s the first episode of the series on Discovery’s ID channel. I knew the situation surrounding his murder were fricked up but the details were always so murky that I just never really cared to look into it much.
I just watched the episode and man oh man Scott Rogers was one fricked up a-hole. I can remember always thinking something wasn’t right with him. He was always too cheerful to be normal, like he was hiding something.
If you don’t know the whole story I suggest you watch the episode. Basically he was a pedophile who fled pedo charges in England, kidnapped two men from England, brought them to St. Gabriel, and forced them to live with him, adopted little boys, and eventually one of the guys he kidnapped killed him.

Just amazed me that he left England and came here and was a television personality. Seemed to me that he should have wanted to keep a low profile.

The show mentioned that his goal was to become loved by the public so that if/when he was exposed, the masses would come out and support him. Same thing happened in England during his trial there. He had so many character witnesses that spoke highly of him that it resulted in a hung jury there. That’s when he fled and came to Baton Rouge.
How this man slipped through the cracks and was able to adopt children here is beyond me.

I mean, who hasn't done all of the above things?

He really was "gay" in multiple senses of the word. Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course. But I never liked him on TV, probably for the same reasons you describe.

I gotta watch this, and I love ID! Disappeared is probably one of my favorite shows of the last 10 years, wish they hadn't stopped making them.

So was the guy who shot him
A) in a sham marriage with this guy’s daughter to get a green card
B) kidnapped by Rogers and coerced into coming to the US, ultimately settling in St.Francesville
C) also in love with Rogers and killed him once child services was onto what Rogers was actually doing
D) all of the above, in an extreme case of Stockholm Syndrome ?

Yeah, aside from the obvious effeminate personality, it turns out he was a certified nutcase. Damn sure fooled a lot of people with his sinister side.....

I watched this last week and Scott was indeed “as phony as a 3 dollar bill”

The guy who shot him ended up turning the gun on himself and died a week or so later when they pulled him off of life support.
"Ian" (as they called him on the show) was able to go back to his family in England after.

Didn't this guy start some kind of evangelical protestant church?
He was fully taking advantage of people in Louisiana - using his public persona to hide his private life.

I'm glad Scott is dead. Wish it happened sooner and more painfully. Burn in hell, POS.

Yes, he started a church at his studios according to the show.

Didn’t he have a show called “Around Town” with Scott Rogers?

I watched the 45 minute piece the OP is talking about. Sickening. It's on YouTube if you want to see it. There are so many more details that would be interesting to know like is Kim really his daughter? Where did she come from?
Thank God "Ian" got out. So sad Mathew couldn't break away from this a-hole.
Good thing is those two young kids were taken away before all of this went down.
Irony that his interview talking shite about the PR lady and her firm is what ultimately lead to his demise. LOL.
Also, some of the same cops from the killing fields show are featured here.... Just not rodie and Aubry.
