Everest is easy. K2 is way more difficult.

Expect $75k with a Western guide, but all in the number probably gets close to $90k.

All in on the low end would be around $55 all in.

Permits alone are in the area of $15k.

In some respects, it has gotten cheaper (considering inflation) because the competition of the guide services has increased dramatically over the last 25 years.

Can the find one where I don’t walk across a Walmart ladder that is spanned across a crevasse? My little ice cleats would hit that twisting ladder and it would be the end of my journey

Crampons and ladders are always a fun day. The real fun is when someone steps on the lashing ropes, connecting two ladders, and cuts them. They take a nice whipper into a crevasse and you have to spend the time resetting the ladders or even worse replacing them if you lose one.

Because making it to the summit for THAT picture of you sitting on trash is all that matters.

shite, look at the angle of that picture. Give me a snow machine, 5 yards of multicolored fabric, some cold weather gear, and 20 feet of nylon rope and I could recreate that picture on the Indian mounds. Those guys are probably somewhere in Indiana, not Nepal.
