If you don’t check bags & have TSA Pre or Clear then your issues with MSY will drop tremendously. Yes, most workers there are lazy but there are some good workers. It’s New Orleans. Once you live there you will understand why it is the way it is.

They don't work for the city or the airport authority. The airport board signs contracts and those companies handle all the hiring, staffing, and management.
And they choose to hire crappy employees and pay them low wages.
