Anybody have any experience living in CT? Any tips for dealing with winter other than the obvious?

Was it the winter or something else that made it terrible?

It is cold, but I am guessing youve never been to New Haven. Even next to Yale is the hood.

The burbs are probably fine.

The burbs probably are. New haven is actually a fairly dangerous city and it's definitely not all white

Have you been to New Haven? They have some serious ghettos blocks from Yale.

Lol. I realize most people here haven’t actually been to new haven.

The suburbs are pretty white though.

Winter.
Long underwear. 3 sets.
Mittens. And lighter gloves.
Boots.
Bring dress shoes to work.

Change at desk.

Garage a must. Its adds time to your morning to scrape ice.

Fwiw, there is no place in USA like Connecticut for giving speeding tickets for 1 mph over 50 on highway. Just don't.
Its the biggest difference with south. You can go 68 all day in 65 zone in south. In ct that's a ticket.

There are some charming county fairs in the summer and fall close by. Easy to look up. Plenty of history to explore if you’re into that sort of thing. Day trips to NYC via public transit if you want. If your neighbors aren’t assholes, I think you’ll have a nice time if you want to.

Princeton > Yale , even though it's located in the taint of the US.

Yeah, the history part and seeing four seasons is actually very attractive. We don’t plan to stay there forever, but I think we can have a good time. Then again, I’ve lived all over and managed to enjoy something about every place we have lived
