If you’re young and single no. Plenty of trim, nightlife, and activities just like any SEC college town.

If you’re older with a family then you have decent schools, good choice of restaurants, Pearl River casino resort 40 min away, a couple really nice golf courses.

It’s not a bad town

You know how there isn't shite else to do in Baton Rouge except for LSU games?

Well, like that - except there's EVEN LESS to do AND the teams are shittier.

If you can’t find anything to do in a metro area of 800,000 then you just aren’t a fun person in general

I’ve always enjoyed my time in Starkville. It’s not as bad as folks here put on
Like Oxford or Ruston or Natchitoches, it's a true college town. Nice for students or people settled down w/families. Not ideal for 20something singles.

I currently live in Starkville and have managed not to off myself yet, but many on here are right. It’s not the world’s best town but it’s really not as this board makes it out to be.

Nice people, laid back atmosphere, bar scene is a lot better than 99% of towns in MS. I’m also an engineer so there is a decent chance our paths will cross at some point.

I've been wanting to move back there for decades. It's improved quite a bit since my days. Hunt Club was good but they closed their doors. Rick's is always great as is Bulldog Deli. Between there, West Point, Columbus, and Amazon you can get just about anything you want. I was from a town of 35k up north and was very comfortable with the area from day 1.

You're pretty much centrally located to Jackson, NOLA, Tuscaloosa, Memphis, and Nashville. Even Birmingham and Atlanta aren't a terribly long drive. Starkville has some GREAT "scenery" around the southwest side of campus.

To my surprise, property taxes and real estate are very expensive there. Not sure where the tax money is going but it’s pretty bad for MS.
