Mostly yes. There is one ghetto area of Omaha but it's fairly easily avoidable

Downtown, actually called the old market as the locals know it, is a great place to hang out and walk around. If you like zoos, the henry doorely zoo is probably the best in the US, actually I think it's in top 3 of the world.

Avoid north Omaha....aside from the road to the airport, anything past Cummings street is ghetto. If you go south on 24th Street....as you approach interstate 80 and get beyond....it's like a little Mexico...I used to go to the taco truck by the wells Fargo...or avarados, I think it was called, for late night beer munchies...there's another one like it in council bluffs, across the river too.

It's been about 7 years since I've lived in the area....but I can tell you where anything is at probably still.

Summer there is just like summer here in the south, humidity and all. Maybe slightly more mild as in the July there might be like August here....but August here is still suck arse hot.

It's also cold in the winter there...like stretches of 10 or below for week or two long periods...

LOL get a load of this dork moving to Nebrasky, amiright guys? Have fun with your wonderful infrastructure and population of educated, sensible, polite midwesterners! You may not miss home yet, but you will on that first drive down Douglas St. when there ain't a single pothole to jostle the old brain a bit!

Oh, and Omaha Draft House.

Lived there for a year, back around 2000 when LSU won it all. The two best days I had that year was the Tigers taking the CWS and meeting some poor bastard at the game that had over 200 soft shell crabs. His buddies pussed out on him so I offered to help him clean the crabs in trade for all I could eat. After a year in Nebraska, I put a hurtin on his stock.

I'd highly recommend you pick up duck hunting again. That area of the country is mecca now for high quality and quantity ducks and geese.

Lots of blue eyed, blonde headed chicks, which if you are coming from South LA that will be a shock.

I just turned down a job in Omaha for personal reasons, but I love the city. My best buddy lives in Aksarben. It’s the area right around UNO. He loves living there and it’s been a great place to visit. Not sure of your age/situation, but they have a lot of single family homes built in the 50’s. Lots of young families and professionals with some students. They walk to the Aksarben bar/restaurant area, gym, etc. There’s an awesome little liquor store down there that doubles as a tasting room. You can grab anything off the shelf, pay for it, open it, and hang out in th store. Really cool setup.
