Sounds like a partial truck load. You're pretty much at their mercy. You just better hope show up tomorrow.

Go ahead and ask for a partial refund. You won't get it, but maybe it'll make you feel better. When my shite finally showed up about a week late, the bastards wanted to charge me MORE. I politely told them that that would not be happening and they dropped the subject.

Did you go back to work as soon as they called and rescheduled? Or, did you say to hell with it and drive around looking for your new synagogue?

I'd wait until I got all my stuff before I started wavering on paying the full bill. I'm pretty sure the contract will have some kind of flexible language dealing with delivery delays. You should probably just let it go, give them a bad review and use a different mover next time..

The signed contract is back at my office as I made a copy of it yesterday for my moving expense reimbursement

Would such a thing be in the contract. I get if snow or something was in the way but rain? Come on

A wise man I knew a long time ago told me the following story:

There was a married couple who had to keep moving over and over from house to house because everywhere they moved, the neighbors always ended up being assholes.

The moral of the story is that the couple were a pair of Mr. & Mrs. Goldennuggets.

they have all your stuff and your payment. what type of leverage do you think you have?

Stair fee. They charge me $75 for each flight of stairs. I paid it after they moved out my stuff when they picked it up. I am on the 3rd floor so that would be $150. Maybe I can negotiate that.

1 day on the back end of the quote

Why even quote a delivery window if they can't hit it

Does the moving company know this? If not, tell them its costing you (insert $ figure here) to miss an extra day of work and you want that amount deducted from what they charge you because the weather forecast all week was calling for bad weather today and they should have told you ahead of time if bad weather would affect their ability to make the delivery as scheduled

Nope

And I will make sure they know it

I am a new employee and can't use sick/vacation time yet so any time I miss work comes out of my own pocket

Is what I will say to them.

Already had to use 5 vacation hours back in Seattle. Now 3 hours today and 3.5 hours tomorrow

How much is my time worth, they aren't respecting the value of my time. When they call me and give me a delivery window and I have to rearrange my schedule they should meet that window.

Did they just not show up yesterday or did they call in the morning and cancel? If they cancelled, why did you have to miss work yesterday?

Also, if you're being reimbursed for your expenses, were you planning on passing any savings negotiated back to them? Or were you planning on commiting expense account fraud on your first expense report?

They just called me and I told them the story.

Had to use 5 vacation hours on the pickup

Had to use 3 vacation hours today

Potentially 3-4 tomorrow

That's 11 hours of pay I missed out on

They took note of everything and said they will call me back

Why did you hire a moving company to move your sex dolls?

They called me Tuesday and said it would be Wednesday or Thursday

They called me yesterday and said they can't to it today and said it will be Thursday. Then they called me again saying it would be Thursday between 3-7.

I was only reimbursed up to a certain amount. Between the moving truck and gas/wear & tear and hotels and all of that I was well over the amount they reimbursed me, so I would hypothetically just replace the moving expenses with my hotel or gas expenses.
