Moving back to Baton Rouge.

After 15 year in a strange land, I will be moving my family back down to Baton Rouge. One of the only things I may possibly miss about where I am now is the $65/month Fios gigabit internet speeds. What will I be looking at for options down there?

Depends on the neighborhood. We have 1GB AT&T and Cox in my neighborhood. I pay about $85 for 150 Mb with Cox

It all depends on the following:
Where do you work?
Can you afford private school?
Without knowing these things, I can't tell you anything helpful.
If you work downtown, you're going to want to live around
If private school: Southdowns, Mid City, or The Garden District (or if you're really baller, in Spanish Town or Beauregard Town north of Govt).
If public school: Zachary or Central
If you work around Essen, you're probably going to want to live around Southdowns, Inniswald, Mid City, or Tara.
If you work in St. Gabriel, you'll want to live around private school: Highland Road, off of Bluebonnet, or The U-Club.
Public school: Dutchtown, Burnside
If you work around Highland and Airline/Pecue/Industriplex, etc, you'll want to live
Private schools: Bluebonnet/Perkins, Highland Road, Old Jefferson, Antioch, Woodlawn, Shenandoah, Inniswold
Public Schools: in Prarieville, Galvez
If you work around O'Neil, you'll want to be around
Private schools: Old Jefferson, Antioch, Woodlawn, Shenandoah
Public schools: Denham Springs, Walker, or Central
If you work at one of the plants in AP/St. James, you want to be
public schools: St. Amant, Prarieville, Burnside, Gonzales, Diversion Canal
If you work at Dow, just live on the West Bank around Plaq, Addis, or Brusly.

I moved back home to Monroe after being in Texas for 25 or so years. Maybe we can compare notes on which move back sucks the least.

To all of you saying sorry... have you ever spent time in New Jersey? If so, imagine 15 years of it...

That strange place must be prison if you are looking foreword to moving to BR. Just happy you are getting out.

Your only options are Jersey or BR?

I might move from Nashville to BR in the next few years to be closer to family and aging parents.
I am dreading it so much.

Are you moving to BR or one of those rural methhead towns like Walker or Central. There is a huge difference you know.
