When I worked as an attendance clerk in a middle school back in early 00s in a high poverty area, I had to withdraw a 12 year old white girl to our district’s teenaged pregnancy program. When Mom came to pick up the paperwork, she let us know they were going out to lunch to “celebrate”. She had a 1 year old in tow who was the 12 year old’s first kid.

I saw the girl on the news several years later for being part of a ring of people who were stealing catalytic converters.
