I spotted a 55 yr old man trying to bench 300 on a smith machine. Didn't have a problem with it . Guy was trying to knock off a bucket list item.
I hate when people rack the weights with different size plates.

Selected from prior posts:
- Idiots standing in front of the DB rack doing their workouts
- Not re-racking your weights
- Not wiping your sweat off the equipment
- Talking on a phone while occupying a machine or bench
- Using multiple stations at one time (e.g., running across the room from one machine to say they're using another. My response, "You're using it if you're on it.")
- Old men walking around the showers with their balls hanging to the floor and no towel (probably the all time worst)
Plus:
- People who ask to "work in" (read: take over) on a machine. My answer is always no.

When there's a 2-3 group working out together and one guy seems to be the leader and is telling the other guys everything he knows, has heard, and read about working out really loudly on prolonged breaks between sets. Usually this guy is sort of stocky, but mostly just fat while his followers are stringy nerdy types.
The yoked up bros with gallon water jugs talking really loudly about the fight they almost got into the night before at some douchey bar.
Basically people that open their mouths. This isn't f'ing happy hour...it's a gym.

Freaking this! Put the GD plates back where you got them and put the GD dumbells back too.
Yes. I mad.

I've never understood this -- why would someone talk on the phone in the gym? A gym is quite literally the worst place to try to have a phone conversation because of loud music and weights clanging, yet there's always some moron standing in a station or on a treadmill yapping on the phone. Are we that insecure nowadays that we can't go 30 minutes to an hour without talking to someone on the phone?

Fricking this. My OCD hits overdrive when I see a 25, 5 and 45 on the same rack, and I hate having to pull off a 25 in order to get to the 45 plate. Ridiculous.
When I was traveling for business one time, I got a free pass to a local gym that didn't have this problem. They had specialized plates that had different numbers of holes in them and you had to match up the number of holes with the number of pronges on a rack (it wasn't just a bar you slide the middle hole onto). Example - the 45 might have 5 holes and you have to put it on the rack with 5 pronges, whereas a 5 might have 2 pronges and you put that on the two-pronged rack. It was a great way to sort weights and not have to worry about mixing.

frick all the shite mentioned so far. People in public annoy me in general. The gym culture kept me from going regularly. Spent some money on home gym equipment, dumbbells, ez curl bar and plates...workout at home. Best decision ever.

People just sitting on the equipment after a set waiting until the have rested enough to do another one.

Sometimes you need to get hyped up before a lift.

Not the idiots that weigh 275 lbs and chalk up to deadlift only 315 lbs and scream like their assholes are on fire while doing it?
No lie, I saw about a 130-140 lb Indian kid pull 335 the other day. He earned my respect.

I hate the bros with their water jugs and pimply backs,
As someone who manages to drink about a gallon of water in a day by utilizing only a 20 oz container, that shite cracks me up.

Im seriously considering getting a power rack, select-tech dumbbells, a good bench and a few bars. Maybe something like a dip station/pullup tower and call it a day. From the research Ive done, for about a $1500 investment you could have quality equipment and make your money back in a few years just on gym membership savings.

While I am a gallon carrier myself (without the pimply back), it does crack me up to see some people with a gallon that look that they don't lift at all and spent all day eating doughnuts
Carrying a gallon all day is annoying, but it's very convenient. Certain supplements require you to intake at least a gallon of fluids a day to flush out your liver and kidneys. I get the strange looks and the questions all the time, but it doesn't bother me.

I hate how people think that there are the only ones worthy of being there.
Yeah, it's going to be crowded in January. People see it as a fresh start and want to improve their life by getting healthy, screw them, right?
