interesting...does it damage shrubbery around your house or anything like that?

Peppermint oil. They hate the smell. I have a 9-month-old and I'll drop it under her bed every so often, also on the windowsill or wherever they might come in. She used to wake up with bites but as long as I drop it about every time I change her sheets we're good.

I think pretty much Talstar kills everything. Good stuff.

Is that the stuff that can wipe out a whole bee colony if a bee touches a flower with it and returns to the hive?

Good question. I'd deal with mosquitos rather than killing bees. Read way too much about this issue to chance it.

Any chance you have an open chimney flue? Close it if so...Keep kids room doors closed too as much as possible.

It doesn't.. I don't drench the garden but I also don't try that hard to avoid flowers and plants. I spray around Windows, on my siding and around the grounds surrounding the house. Never seen it harm any greenery.

I read that dragonflies, bats, etc make a minimal impact on the mosquito population.

You don't have to put a bug zapper. The combo zapper/led bulbs work. I have a GSP that is in and out constantly and the mosquitos in the house was an issue. I set up a few of these and no more. I put the bulbs in a lamp and you wouldn't even know they were there. Also, you can run just the zapper part and turn off the led so it works as a night light in the toddlers' room.
