Have you been to riverbend lately? Half the yards have been waterlogged for months now

There are some real nice houses under the old bridge next to the levee. on the Port Allen side. I've always wondered who lives there.

It was higher than that in 2011
Difference is how long it's been high this go round.

There are ditches and pockets around LSU near levee that have been puddles now going back to Feb which is normal low lying areas

A well-watered jungle.

They’re saying a FULL opening June 9th. Isn’t that a change from before? I thought sure I read it would only be a partial opening.

I doubt they mean all the bays. Just enough to keep the water from overtopping the structure.

Maybe the COE is stalling hoping to not have to open the spillway

Just a few thoughts to ponder

The barge is in place. There’s no rain, or at least not much in the forecast for the Lower St Martin/St Mary areas for a week or so.

With the barge in place the backwater flooding will cease for those areas. Why not let those areas drain and dry out for a few days before releasing more water into the Atchafalaya River where when that happens their draining will slow/stop.

I caught that in the article also and I too would assume that means every single bay would be open but I took that with a grain of salt since today's journalism is so shitty that I'm sure that's not what was communicated to them by the ACE.

I think the first three days are one bay a day. Starting June 9th, it will be whatever it takes.

Because Pierre Part would collectively lose its shite if they didn't get that damn barge in place. Have you not been watching the news lately?

I don’t follow what you’re implying?

Pierre Part isn’t flooding right now.

Haven’t you seen the flooding already going on in Stephensville?

I've seen two or three stories on the news lately of Pierre Part residents bitching about water being in their homes and yards. They were all complaining that the barge needed to be in place "ASAP - as soon as possible". Or at least that what I think they said.

Joking aside, yes, some areas of Pierre Part are flooding and accent or not, those residents are hard-working people just like most of us here. I know some of them and they are suffering. I just get a kick out of them complaining about it as though it's a man-made event. Although I know the media won't pick the sensible ones there to show on the news, either.
