Morganza Spillway: Calling all drones

I'd love to see tons of drone footage the opening of the spillway. A drone following the water for a good distance as they start opening the gates would be pretty sweet.

I'm betting it will be restricted.

I was once told a failure at ORCS would still take like 2 days to reach Morgan City. That would be a hectic fricking two days.

Is there a reason for the restriction? Can't imagine how a drone could cause an issue unless there will be official aircraft flying over to monitor the opening.

I'd still like to see the official notice. I've sworn off barbershop talk.

Nothing official. We went down just before the last closing of the BC. Were set up to take off from 61 but decided to ask a patrolman before doing so. Told us the refinery folks would come looking for us. We decided not to press the issue. Totally our decision, just didn't want to start anything. Had we gotten there while the launch at the end of the levee road was still open we would have flown.

They have a lot of power. They also nominate the candidates that will be placed in charge of life jackets for each area of the state.

My guess is COE flying their own drones or military traffic with COE personnel onboard.
