More Impressive: Actually singing while performing...or sick dance moves?

It may be the norm more than not, but why do so many performers prefer to lip sync and dance all around the stage instead of actually singing the song and possibly being out of breath every now and then? Would the OT crucify them if they missed a note because they were out of breath from jumping up and down too long?

What does the OT prefer?

Bruno Mars puts on one helluva halftime show, that's all I know. I was thoroughly entertained.

I'd never sit down and listen to an album by him, but I'd buy tickets to go see him live.

True entertainers can do both. I am sure Bruno does both in his regular shows. NFL wants the audio to be TV friendly and won't let them go 100% live. I liked the balance they struck this year with live playing over back up tracks.

If I pay money to go see a concert I want them to sing live. If I wanted to hear them sing on a recording I would stay home and listen to Spotify/iTunes. That is one reason I love George Strait in concert. Nothing flashy, no running around the stage, no costume changes. Just song after song after song actually being sung by the person standing there.

For something like the SB, I understand the NFL wanting the vocal track in case there are technical issues or for the broadcast mix. Last night on the broadcast it was difficult to hear much of what was being done "live" at least at the very beginning and end. Like the mic feeds weren't really added to the mix.
