North is ole money Monroe. Still safe but friends I have there say break ins and thefts occur quite often...even in nice parts. It is also known that gypsies (yes like the ones in southern Europe) will come through 5 to 10 years or so. And they will steal while you are in your house. Not making that up.
West Monroe is growing with people escaping Monroe, but you have to go through major trash zones if you take the Lea Joyner Bridge just to find the nice parts. There has been and always will be a trashiness to WM. But a lot of good people live there also.

Oooh, that's taking a minor across state lines. That's just compounding a bad idea.
Although having been stuck in MS, I personally have seen giant billboards with an older man and a clearly teenage girl with the caption along the lines of "Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right".
