MONROE, La. (KNOE) - For some, lemonade day doesn't seem like much, but for two elementary students, it means a lot. Kennedy Sampson and Ryiann Williams sold lemonade, cookies, and candy on Lemonade Day back in May to raise money for a good cause.
They donated money to their church, and Thursday gave one hundred dollars to their school. Their parents say it was a great opportunity for their kids to use math skills and develop business skills.
"It's just a day to teach kids about entrepreneurship, giving back, how to save, and do all those things," says Brittany Gix, Kennedy's mom. "We had a lemonade stand where we raised 1,000 dollars, and the girls wanted to give back to their church, school, and pay for a summer vacation."
The principal for their school, J.S. Clark Magnet School, says he’s so proud of their accomplishments. “Oh I'm extremely proud of those girls, they've done a great job to get out into an arena that's usually for older people – business,” says Brian Bush.
