Apparently this is being "privately funded." Which "musician" do you think it is?

embarrassment to all blacks that they will support and fight for that statue to be removed because white politicians told them to be mad at it.
Black people will literally cheer for the removal of a civil rights activist, and champion of equal rights, because white politicians told them too.
Oh really...

How can they keep it private? Once the money is given to the city doesn't that make it public money and shouldn't the taxpayers have a right to know where it came from and and a say on how it's spent?

Why not build a new monument for more recent figures in history instead of demolishing old ones?
Posted on 4/24/17 at 12:44 pm to goofball
Because they'd find something wrong with those too.

I won't be spending money in New Orleans again. Destruction of monuments is just too screwed up for me.
I hope for the worst for Mitch Landrieu.

Are they jsut supposed to fight his civil war record? And who he fought for ?
Why is he so great that he deserves a pardon?
He fought to preserve a inhumane, unamerican and evil institution. Great that "he came about" late in life but he still has blood on his hands.
Tear it down with the rest of the statues

I'll be making a donation to his campaign or something

Do you even truly know what the civil war was fought over?
I'll give you a hint, slavery was wayyyyyyy down the list.
And idiolizing shitheads? You're obama's biggest cock sucker. Hello kettle

Should all the oppressive street names in NOLA be changed as well?
Posted on 4/24/17 at 12:59 pm to StrongSafety
People who support this kind of thing forget how quickly the shoe was on the other foot.
It's like they can't imagine someone wanting to erase the history of whatever it is they think is important.

Why not? Wouldn't bother me. Don't want my tax dollars going to anything that memorializes terrorists

IDGAF about a statue but donations and furthering his political career was all this was ever about for the mayor. He doesn't give a shite about you or me.

he's term-limited out and knows he'll never win another statewide office in this state again

It's got to be funded by John Cummings (ambulance chaser and owner of the Whitney Plantation) who will probably end up getting the monuments. Also donates a lot of money to the Landrieu clowns.

Yes I do, and I know states rights in those times = give horrible people the rights to do whatever they want wherever they want however they want to whoever they want.
It was a license to be a shitty human being to and oppress people. Which included slavery

At least they have a chance at redemption. Those dead generals don't. And only PT seemed to care about becoming a decent person in his last years
