My uncle use to own a gas station. In college, I would stop by and hang out there for a little while. His sons are like my brothers and I am like one of his kids so I would go by there and sometimes study in the office, etc. People would always smoke while they are pumping gas. They have a sign right there "do not smoke while pumping gas". If they would see someone smoking, they would tell them to please put it out.

One time when I was there, some guy refused to put his out. My uncle wasn't there so it was one of his sons and the guy said something to insinuate he was going to listen to some "kid" and that he has pumped gas while smoking many times. We always take up for each other so it was one of those instinct things. I went out near the guy and the only thing I could think to do was tell him something so as he was getting into his truck I told him "next time I hope you blow the frick up jackass so we can come piss on your grave". He told me "you lucky you are in that wheelchair because I would get out this truck and beat the shite out of you". We exchanged a few insults and when another customer pulled up I went back inside so this doesn't surprise me.

For some reason, people who smoke think that no one should tell them anything about smoking, even if it is common sense safety situations in which they shouldn't.

Not to mention.. When I think about fire and being around gasoline.. It just seems like common sense to keep the fire away from it. Even if it is a slight risk, it is still a risk.. They can't stop smoking for 3 mins to pump their gas?
