That's really close to why our company has phones. But you don't need a company phone. You can download a company profile and get $50/month. But being in IT, I'm on call 24/7. I'm our system's only windows admin. My laptop goes with me everywhere.

if there is one thing that I would almost always say I'm better at than my peers, it would be in the sales realm. Also if you were to ask any of my friends or past girlfriends they would all say "yes SS needs to be working in sales"

I have my email a couple pages back. Still not sure if that is a good idea on this board but frick it.

I make about 34k a year before tax . Crap job just want the experience from it. Not much chance of upward movement within the company either.

I have to use my personal laptop to connect back to my desktop at work wouldn't even provide me a work laptop. Luckily I'm in an on call rotation of every three weeks.

I'm technically on a rotation with other analysts but it doesn't really work that way. We have a very stable system though so being on call wouldn't matter anyway.

Yup it's pretty gross hoping to get outta this position to one that pays even 45k and then work towards my CCNP and go from there.

Damn that's impressive general knowledge in IT does help though. I try to pick my network admin's brain over any networking issues that arise just for that reason.

I don't administer our network equipment but I could support it if necessary after about 2 weeks of training. I support our Linux boxes too without any formal training. Just takes time; learning as you go. And because of how regulated we are, I also have lots of experience in intrusion detection, virus protection, patching, and regulatory requirements

I started with a specialized degree in that specific field making $27k/yr, and was the only one in my class to get a job in our field. Left it because it wasn't sustainable. Now that I'm finishing up my new degree, I found out they are starting people off at $60k
