Millennials are actually returning to the kitchen and cooking things together. Oh the horror. No to mention, like others have said, all these chain's food is dog shite.

It's hard to go out and eat, even at a crappy chain, when you still live with your parents.

It's gonna be hilarious when millennials raise up and whip yalls arse

BWW is overpriced.
If I'm going to spend that amount on a meal, I'd rather go to Thai Lotus, Sophi's, El Agave, or Irish Coast Pub.

I finally agree with Millennials on something. Chain restaurants are mostly garbage

Honestly, that sounds like a bunch of bullshite to me. I travel a good bit for work and everyplace I go is jam packed with people at mealtime. The only places I see closing are chains whose food quality has just gone to absolute shite (i.e. Chili's, etc.). If you serve anything that is passable at a halfway decent price, there is no reason a restaurant should struggle.
+1
I also think they have little disposable income and these places are shied away from for fast food to save a few dollars not having to tip servers. But what you said sums it up, the food quality is awful.

Red Lobster dying thanks to changing dining habits - 5/18/14
Has anyone noticed the "middle" of American life is disappearing? Everything is either WalMart or Rodeo Drive. As Yeats said, "Things fall apart, the center cannot hold".
Will this eventually make the act of dining out an elitist cult for foodies?

The cheddar-biscuit purveyor's demise is being hastened by a growing American preference for micro-managing meals that can be scarfed down quickly. The era of families sitting down to a meal conceived by food scientists and prepared in a kitchen they can’t see is fading. That is bad news for a host of other chains, including Olive Garden, which Darden still owns.
"Even as consumer spending has improved, many consumers have still been less willing to spend on sit-down meals," noted a recent report from market research firm IBISWorld. "Instead, consumers have shown a preference for cheaper fast-casual concepts.”

Twenty years ago or so, I dined at RL frequently--I lived in the midwest at the time, and it was about the only way to get decent seafood for a reasonable price. But then the fish portions got smaller, the steaks and chicken got chewier (I used to get the combo), and the shrimp became more and more tasteless. Bottom line, Red Lobster failed because of corporate greed.

Not all chains are struggling. Take a look at J. Alexander's (mall of LA) parking lot during lunch or a weekend dinner and it is packed.

Buffalo Wild Wings has very good beer prices if you're looking to throw back some domestics with your friends. Food is mediocre but there are worse places to watch a game.

Millennials would rather eat at chipotle or Panera than red lobsta or bww. It's better food at a lower price.

J alexanders actually has decent food.

It's better than Applebee's or T.G.I. Friday's.

I used to love those types of places, but the services has gone way down hill. I almost exclusively prefer fast casual now. I love just being able to refill my drink whenever I feel like it rather than waiting on a server who might not show up for ten minutes.
