USAR 12b Combat Engineer 1989-1997. No wars, no battles, no scars. Still proud.
Always a big shout out to those that served in a greater capacity than I.

Drafted in 1969. 2 years active duty. Assigned to Big Red One in Ft. Riley Kansas. ETS a Spec 4. I saw no battle. Military time was the best damn thing that could happen to me in those days. ... that being said, Vietnam was pretty hot in them days. I was prepared to go where they sent me but was not going to volunteer for anything. Now days when I see a war vet that saw action I tell them thank you. No civilian can no what they went through. I can't either but was close enough to have a pretty good idea.

My motto was always 'I already volunteered once'. That kept me from doing dumb shite, like jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.

Former Army. 19D- 1st Troop, 4th U.S. Cavalry, 3rd brigade, 1st Infantry Division when it was still in Germany. 3 years with an honorable discharge.
I look back on it now as some of the best times of my life. I got to travel, meet my countrymen, made a lot of good friends, got to do a lot of cool shite with cool weapons, and it gave me a solid foundation of work and personal ethics that will last a lifetime. The GI bill also allowed me to get a degree, which I would have not been able to afford on my own.
