SF guys tend to go to another secret squirrel unit. So I've heard.

SF guys end up in that secret squirrel group because green berets work very closely with State/CIA on a much more regular basis than any other unit so they build those relationships over years and then just make a phone call to their buddy when they get out of the army.

I've only known one SEAL and he worked "this one time in BUDS" into the first 30 seconds of our first conversation.

I've only known one seal personally too and that's just because we worked out at the same gym for a while. He was actually a really cool dude.

I used to study this religiously. I’ll categorize it best I can

Not necessarily “special force type units”, but this is who you want if you have to take over a country

Marines
82nd airborne
Rangers

First line of special forces

MARSOC
SEALS
Special Forces (Green Berets)

Elite units who pull from the units above

DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6)
Delta

There are many others but those are the most popular

This guy is pretty cool. A little arrogant, but you expect it at that level, probably even need it. He definitely made sure everyone in earshot knew he was a SEAL though.

Had an opportunity to meet some frogs while downrange and they were complete plugs. Our units got along fine but they were douchers. Couple of dog handler buddies of mine deployed with an ODA team out of Fayetteville, while I was at J’ville. Those doods were cool as frick. Completely chill. Never brought up our deployments. Never a dick measuring contest. They’d come to the beach, drink, surf, chase poon with us and then drive back to F’ville.

ETA: how’s that pup doin, baw? Still alive?

Maybe I should have said ST6, but they are both SMU’s under JSOC, and a lot of their training and capabilities are similar

Delta and ST6 have essentially the exact same mission set. I'd say you could at least compare them. Some people may draw different conclusions than others.

I never really worked with any SOF units while I was in. All my exposure to them has been since I joined the contracting world. The current SF team I support seems pretty chill, much more so than the last one. The Belgian SOF dudes are who you want to party with though.

I just want to let everyone know that the fighters at Eglin were super busy last week. Never seen them fly so much when I’ve been down there before

SEALS are Tier 2, like the Army Rangers and Special Forces. However, the days of Sea seem to be a thing of the past and the focus is more on door kickers, recon, and small team infantry tactics. Rangers do this too.

SEALS and Rangers are the primary feeders for ST6 and Delta, both Tier 1.

Special Forces have an entirely different mission so it’s hard to compare.

I’d say Rangers are the equivalent.

FWIW I’m just a middle aged dude that enjoys reading about the modern military.

My only interaction with SEALs was them trying to sell us booze at ridiculous prices downrange.

Have a relative who was Force Recon for 8 years. He talks as if they were the top shite.

He does have some impressive gopro and other camera footage I'd like to make a documentary with though. From Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia.
