Tell me about the town. Single early 30s. Where should I live? What is there to do?

Not a bad place, the crescent will be your friend. There’s a few decent places to eat, the downtown is getting better as well.

Hammond is crap. Live in Madisonville and drive 25 minutes.

Better than Vicksburg and small College Town is ok.

Not much to do there but your 3 hours from good beaches.

I agree - but do want to say - Hammond is pretty cheap - so with all that extra dough - spend time elsewhere

Look at the bright side, at least you’re not moving to Ferriday or Bogalusa.

There are 20 somethings who attend Slow Learners University so you might get over on a few.

Downtown has come a long way, decent night life with lots of restaurants and bars. Red white and brew and the crescent will be your friend as far as bars go.

Gnarley barley brewery is awesome.

Houses are cheap if you're looking to buy or rent.
Id agree Mandeville/Covington are nicer but neither of them have a downtown or college town feel like Hammond. Early 30s is still young enough to land some of the older co-eds around.

Hammond is cheap but if you’re really looking to save money check out Ponchatoula, it’s a few miles from Hammond and a much smaller town. If money is no concern then Madisonville or Mandeville is the answer, it’s only a 25 minute commute if you don’t get caught up on the interstate. Hammond has a few good spots to eat or drink but I wouldn’t live there. Hammond and Ponchatoula do each have a good firearm shop if that’s your thing and Hammond has a pretty good Hospital. I’ve lived in Tangi for almost a decade and am waiting for the opportunity to relocate but it hasn’t been terrible.

You renting or buying?
Downtown is cool. Nice restaurants and bars.
