DA with no comment. Apparently doesn't have the funding to show up to these things.

Too busy posting on Tigerdroppings I guess.

Apparently the suspect's girlfriend, the get away driver, was let out of jail on her own recognizance today.

She was only charged with 'possession of stolen items' for her part.....yep.

That’s so fricked up. No repurcussions means no reason not to do this shite. She was helping him in the commission of a crime and he murdered someone. It’s not front murder but she’s a principal to the myrder and should be charged like she is. Judges are a joke. DAs office never pursues the highest charges possible.

The safety zone in New Orleans can change quite a bit in just a couple of blocks. Not much comfort for citizens just outside tourist areas.
Wonder how many Jazz Fest attendees know the crime happened within a mile of their stomping grounds?

Maybe charges are coming in the future, or going to hold charges above her head unless he cooperates. Or just dropped the ball.

Not within a mile, but close enough.

A lot worse shite has happened within a mile though. That isn't a great area.

She's being rebooked within the hour for manslaughter and additional charges.

Juvenile crime is out of control in NOLA. The result of lack of family upbringing & discipline imo. As long as the system subsidizes additional children, the problem will continue to escalate.
Thank goodness neither the husband or youngster could shoot. Rather, to bad, husband could not shoot.
Friends ask why the 9mm is literally at my knee within arms reach when they get in the car. “Cause I live uptown & read the news”. I train at least twice a month, if interested.
Sad state of affairs in NOLA these days.
After a 25 year exile in TX, have thoroughly enjoyed being home for the last 7, but beginning to think it may be time to move on.

This makes me sick:

There was no one from the District Attorney's office present at the hearing to offer more information. The DA hasn't staffed afternoon bond hearing for a year because of budget cuts.

If you are living in fear you should probably move.

Well, "their" is a problem but likely not in the way that you mean.
