That's what pisses me off about this modern diversity bullshite. It's simply self-serving nonsense that actually has a negative effect most of the time.

I've had black people want to touch my hair. I wasn't woke enough to realize it was a micro aggression, so I just let them.

When you talk to me you are supposed to look straight ahead even if you are looking over my head. If you look down at me because you are taller than me that is an aggression and makes you a heightist.

I think you could make this a really fun activity and super racist.

I have an evaluation form we could use as well

You should give them all 1s and say it was a joke because it didn't include any trans or non-binary panelists.

I'm a reporter with Campus Reform. Did the conference ever mention why they were teaching about microinsults, aggressions, etc. at an engineering conference? @CuseTiger

If they do the privilege step forward exercise, remember you have experienced discrimination as a southerner and if you are a Christian. Don't let the black lesbian in a wheelchair win.

I missed the beginning part of the workshop so I'm not entirely sure of what they said, but I'd assume it'd have to deal with NSF's diversity initiative. Basically for grant writing you need to include some aspect of how you can include women or minorities. Just found this article, it's a pretty good description of NSF's plan
quote:LINK
The underrepresentation of women and minorities in the scientific workforce is a problem that has persisted for decades despite many well-meaning federal initiatives. NSF Director France Cordova has spoken repeatedly about her intention of moving the needle on the issue since taking office in March 2014. And this initiative, totaling roughly $75 million, could well be the signature program of her 6-year term.
A “Dear Colleague” letter from Cordova dated 22 February sets a 10-year goal of “transforming [science and engineering] so that it is fully and widely inclusive.” But it is deliberately vague on how NSF plans to accomplish that goal except to say that NSF expects grantees to be an alliance of researchers at universities, schools districts, businesses, local and regional governments, and the nonprofit sector. “We leave the specific nature of each alliance and the ambitious goals it will aim to achieve to you to define,” Cordova writes.

Funny how they never make these pushes when it comes to female dominated fields like nursing and teaching.

Our department went through a full days training last week on 'unconscious bias'. We're mostly engineers but the consultants are 'training' a different department each day. The whole company will be trained when all said and done. Prob costs well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Don't go trying to bring logic in here
. These situations are basically one-way streets

I'm sorry for your loss. Hopefully you had a productive day on the OT

The whole notion of this shite is un-American. It is sniveling cowardly pussy fart douchebagery.... sniveling pussies that subscribe to this vomitous garbage should have to go to a Full Metal Jacket type of boot camp and also have classroom sessions of what true American history is and what true fundamental American values are... also, these pussy farts should be banned from driving until they learn how to change their own flat tire and drive a stick... lol.
