Apparently breaking a window is harder than getting into Ft.Knox

Nah until the actual transcript showed.

All bets are off after that. Clearly the woman should be fired.

Why so they can hire another person of similar intelligence? The said they are updating their training protocols to address this issue so dispatchers know how to respond. Why can't we just train this person, why does she have to be fired?

She did this before EMS would have arrived, most likely. People are too quick to call 911. Break the fricking window. Be a goddamn parent.

She did both.

The OT still thinks she didn't do enough. Never change.

With this logic, why fire anyone ever?

She was a veteran of the dispatcher crew as well.

A timely retirement with full benefits, lifetime healthcare and a robust 401k retirement package is a fair sendoff for this shining example of hard work and tenacity to help peoples

You criticized her for being over-reliant on 911 and not handling it on her own without calling them.

This is someone with incrediblely low problem-solving skills.

Have you ever busted out a car window? If you don’t know what you’re doing, especially if you’re a woman, it’s not that easy.

Very true. I get into my car after work and I have a sun visor up and it feels like a sauna for several minutes as the air on full blast kicks in to cool down. 12 minutes of that would give me quite the sweat.

Malicious intent, ignoring established training, multiple offenses, sexual harrassment, beating off on the job, punching your boss, i mean the list is long.

We aren't talking about management here - for all we know this person is in their first week on the job.

If they are updating their training - it seems that there was a gap where this wasn't covered. Now she certainly fricked this up royally - but its not like they are going to be getting the best and brightest and if the training says "we don't unlock cars" with no caveat of endangered persons. Even if she made a mistake, that is how people learn.

People learn by mistakes, hard to do that if they get fired every time though.

ETA: Someone said she was a veteran, if that is true its a bit different. I'm not going to call for her head but i just find the movement of calling for peoples jobs at every corner to be foolish.

Some mistakes are bigger than others. Are you related to this dispatcher or something?

The OT is extra shitty this morning.

This woman did exactly what you should do. Grandmother called 911 because they're having trouble getting into the car. The mother never stopped trying to get into the car. The child was in the car for 12 minutes and could have easily overheated during that time frame, requiring emergency care even if she's removed by her mother.

I can't find a flaw in their behavior or reasoning whatsoever.

No. I initially criticized her for immediately calling 911 and then complaining to the media when 911 didn't respond.

I then re-evaluated that opinion once reading the transcript.

I gave her praise for handling it on her own though.

Nope

The baby didn't die so this isn't an unforgivable mistake.

Results dictate perception and outcome in this world. Just look at the NFL - What is the Narrative on Tom Brady if Butler doesn't make that pick they lose to the Seahwaks - certainly not GOAT even though he would have made the exact same plays...

its not as easy as you think. maybe for those who have a glass-breaker tool but as a matter of course, car windows are pretty damn strong esp. if you're a woman.

eta and the poor woman was under duress. laugh at her all you want but her 2yo was trapped in the car and she was flipping out.

understandable except in the heartless world of the OT who never ever make mistakes and keep 17 spare keys in magnetic boxes under their cars so they are always perfect, self-reliant and scoff at ever needing 911.

Wut? They lost the Superbowl last year and many people still say he is amazing because of his performance in that game. What an absurd comparison.
