How long do you think it would take for the U.S. to make a clean sweep of all the drug cartels in Mexico? If they really wanted to get rid of all of them, how long would it take?

It’s impossible to just sweep every cartel at once. It would be an endless effort. It’s hard enough to end just a single cartel, much less all the major players at the same time.

Well, using context clues from his statement, I’m gonna say that he was referring to the Mexican presidential candidate

Quote me something from that article that has anything to do with whoever is the presidential candidate. I have no clue who it is which is why I asked who he was talking about. No shite it’s some type of candidate as elections were mentioned.

Money makes for a robust incentive to help people.

We could put a serious hurt on cartels with military action, but cash is cash is cash. Even if you wipe them out, you're resetting a clock, not turning it off.

Exactly.

We should pick the cartel we think will work with us the most and help them take over the other cartels.

I'm talking with brute force military styled action. Heavy, heavy drone attacks and such

Like we did with Muslim radicals in the Middle East?

They just grow back and worse than before.

And you think that would end drug cartels? The Sinaloan Cartel didn’t miss a beat when el chapo was arrested.

Nobody on this planet can just end the war on drugs, it doesn’t work like that

Different ball game. I work with a few Mexicans from areas that are cartel influenced. Those guys would welcome a military intervention led by US troops. The horror stories they tell about everyday life are beyond belief.

If our government was really interested in ending the cartels, they'd legalize drugs and prostitution. There will always be people willing to make money feeding the vices of the American people. The illegality of said vices is what draws the criminal element towards said activities.
