on MLK is terrible
I find most things on MLK, anywhere, to be terrible.
Great example in Portland....the Popeyes on MLK sucks.
Go to ANY other locations besides the 2 on MLK and it's a black and white difference in service and readily available food.

Those machines shut off after 30 minutes of idle time, and then you need to dump the old ice cream, mix, clean it, etc, before starting it up again and making a new batch. The workers are either too lazy to do this, or are in the middle of turnover over the machine. My moneys on the former.
That must be a new crappy design of machine the because when I worked there 15 years ago this was never the case.
The machine stayed in standby ready for ice cream or shakes during regular operating hours. There were 2 chambers, one for ice cream and the other for shakes. At a time, there were different blends of ice cream mix for shakes and ice cream, but later on the mix was changed so that shakes and ice cream used the same mix. The only time the ice cream machine wasn’t available was in the overnight hours (back when most closed at midnight). The machine would go into a defrost cycle to melt the ice cream in the chamber the next day. The thing would beep when it was low and needed more mix. The mix came in large bags.
The way the machine worked was that it used pressure to keep the ice cream super cooled and fluid while it was in the pressurized chambers. Then when it was put into shakes or ice cream, it would freeze or thicken when it would get to normal pressures. Hence the name soft serve ice cream.

I think Denham McD's (one near I-12) is owned by different franchisee than most of the ones in BR are owned. You can get hot sauce with burritos there but not at most of the ones in BR.

He's trolling. They operate the same way.

I didn’t go to the one on MLK.
I went to the ones on Prospect and West Park.
Prospect was just renovated, so their is no excuse for a bad machine.
Barrow one is nice and close to the office, but it is in a terrible location if I change my mind and want something else, or I am running errands.
Also, I don’t remember if I got the broken line at Barrow.
I do know if I go up to Gray, Thibodaux, or Morgan City, there is a different owner but I don’t have enough of a sample size to know if their ice cream machine issues are as bad.

This has been posted about on Reddit before and most people who worked in fast food restaurants said that is a myth. Patties are pre-cooked and kept in a steamer or on the grill for a bit in some places, but the actual assembly is done to order. This was the case when I worked at Sonic as well.
Can you not read? I addressed this in my post.

Why not just go somewhere and get a real milkshake?

It's amazing how once you leave Louisiana and states like Mississippi and Alabama fast food becomes almost a pleasant experience. Louisiana has the laziest of all the lazy people in this country. But go to a McDonalds in Texas or Florida and it's a decent place thanks to the hard working hispanics.

I think they're never broken, the lazy MFers that work there are just too fricking lazy to make the shake. It's never the back of house staff that makes them, it's always the bitch with the bad attitude that takes your order.

I go to the one on Range closer towards Watson. I think it’s off of Magnolia Bridge and Range.

Well, I just tried another Houma location and same thing. This time I went to the one on Grand Caillou by Chabert.
It might be time to call the corporate office or franchisee or rant on Facebook.
At least, I started ranting on TD first.

You should film every time you go through the drive thru. Send that to them and ask why every location you get the same response

I may just have to do that.
BTW...I finally got my shake. I got one in Larose on my way home.

I agree with the Alabama part. Worthless.
Case in point:
1. In Alabama: had a obvious Japanese person with me at a McDonald's. Cashier gave no fricks that he couldn't speak English and basically got annoyed with him. I had to help step in to translate as best as possible.
2. In Tokyo: I walk into a McDonald's (I'm not big on Japanese food), the worker's all spring to life welcoming me and the cashier immediately reaches below the counter to break out the picture menu to help me order. Very pleasant, even though none of them could speak much English.

Never seen so many shake machine problems until i started reading this board more daily. I will have to ask my maid's maid. She looks like she has drank a few shakes in her day.
When i get a shake craving i just fly to New York and order a Frozen Chocolate Haute.
