So eastern values are less superior than western ones?
You are too stupid to argue with.
Look at what you are typing your response on and tell me if it was manufactured in the west or east.

I'm just not using all my feeeeeelings and emmmmmmmotions to make a value.
It's a neutral assessment that shows power confers meaning. Not that something has meaning in itself.

well it's important to certain worldviews
it's really popular when defending fundamentalist muslim nations
the next question is to ask what their goals of humanity are, and why they are against things like decreased child deaths, elevating the status of the poor, more freedom for females and minorities, protecting freedom of expression and speech, promoting art, etc.

All about Socio economics bro
People are uncomfortable where they feel they don't fit in. They also need to have someone to feel superior to and it all comes down to socio economics and associated cultures.

isn't that exactly what he's saying?
The Western Culture (as you describe it) is the "Dominant Culture" in the world, but it is totally subjective as to whether or not it is actually a superior way of life.
Just to play devil's advocate, keep in mind that there are also negatives to our way of life, particularly environmental impacts and global warming (off the top of my head).

Its a stupid argument bc as US citizen we need to respect authority placed above us. The fact of the matter is it against the law.
Terrible, terrible logic. Slavery used to be legal. Should slaves and abolitionists just respected authority and gone along with it?

So, since you say it is "meaningful", I'd like to know what you think it "means".
You guys have a capacity for something akin to a cognitive dissonance or denial (can't tell which) that I am truly taken aback by.
"Meaningful" as in some way reflective of the attitudes of some significant portion of the demographic that most frequents the board--in this case white southerners with a median age in the low-mid 30s and an above-average rate of university education. And to pretend as though that lopsided a margin is indicative of nothing borders on cowardice. I can go to the SEC rant, create a topic, and pretty accurately assess how it's going to be received. And believe it or not, that will be reflected in the up/down votes. I can make the same post on the rant and, predictably, get a different result. It is not a scientific study. But there is a lot of ground between conclusive and nothing. And I can assure you that the result in question is not nothing. SFP, who is a quality poster, just did an around the world on racial attitudes covering six continents in about three sentences, and that went unchallenged*, but you can dismiss something so simple and empirical as meaningless?
Come on, Shorty.
*I'll challenge it when I get the chance.

You just don't see it very often.
It's bc what you just posted.
bullshite
that depends on what part of the country you are in
maybe in what ever shite hole town you come from its what you see.
If you are in an area with middle to upper middle class blacks its not the norm.

when minimum wage is your best job opportunity, as an adult, then that speaks a lot about the choices you've made (assuming no biological defect)
Then they think they should be able to support a family of 4 off of a minimum wage job and expect us to raise the minimum wage for them to do so. The problem is they aren't smart enough to figure out how to get out of that rut because they were raised poor and uneducated.
After collecting unemployment, welfare, and food stamps it makes more since to live off the government than work for yourself. Minimum wage doesn't need to be raised... government assistance needs to be more limited. Paid sterilization needs to be offered & mandatory sterilization needs to be enforced by law for repeat criminals who also don't pay child support.

It's a pretty arrogant idea regardless of its validity.

yes, if your goal is to advance humanity on earth
i enjoy lots of eastern philosophy and have for a long time, but there is often a conflict with that philosophy and progress
japan was the first asian country to develop western values. there is a reason japan became the dominant force in asia after
we had an experiment in asia in real time, where one side got ruled by a mix of east and socialism and the other side was given western values. who is doing better today: north korea or south korea?
after adopting western values, look at how fast China and India have come. amazing progress, and the people who feel it most are the poor. there are more options for the poor to elevate their station now than in the long history of either country

it didn't stumble into becoming the dominant culture. it gained that place on the mantle for a reason

that's b/c the job options for those who chose to ignore the value of education are decreasing as our society advances
those inefficient factory jobs of the 60s and 70s are not options for this group anymore

i defended his post yesterday while criticizing the way it was worded. his heart was in the right place, and we all know it's a hypothetical scenario (and it would never happen in reality), but if it did happen in reality, it would be pure douchechill

A lot of things black people continue to do, they do because they know it pisses white people off. They laugh at how everything in their communities is old and run down but people are worried about their clothes and the music they listen to.

While I totally agree with you here, Japan didn't completely abandon their own culture. They still speak a completely different language from everyone else and have a lot of really unique things about their culture.
The thing I don't like about this thread is that people are just shitting on black culture (but not black people, right? Just their culture) for stupid stuff, like speaking differently, dressing differently, etc.
Japanese people speak japanese, dress weird as frick and are obsessed with hello kitty, anime, and tentacle porn. While that is really weird to me, they manage to do pretty okay for themselves. For the same reason, I'm not going to shite on black culture because they like Tyler Perry, Baggy pants, and rap music.
