Yup Mt “motherfricker” was a hell of a climb
But to answer the OP question yes it’s very damn close to what I went through at
MCRD San Diego 89’
After that went to 1st Anglico doing close air support and naval gunfire
Spent my 4 yrs active in the same unit and great memories getting my “shellback” during
West PAC 92’ 11th MEU on the USS Tarawa
Hell was able to find my platoon pic

I was at Fort Knox in '88 and I don't remember it being anywhere near that bad. We were in the Disney barracks.
At first we were mostly pointing out all the stuff that was in Stripes. We got off the bus at the building they did in the movie. It didn't have the canopy like in the movie though. Phone booths in the background were there, etc.
None of my friends thought Fort Knox was really an army fort. I guess they thought it was just the gold depository.

Got to ask, why the 3 guys with no jackets? Not the DIs but the guys guys scattered throughout in the first picture.

My neighbor growing up went through then. He said it was pretty accurate. I went through in 03 and had pretty similar experience. We'd compare stories. Some DIs are worse than others. Only remember the name of one of my drill instructors because he was a complete psycho. Punching recruits and whatnot. SSGT Roughan. He ended up killing a guy in the pool a couple years later.

It was Mt. Motherfricker when I went through in ‘88. Remember one heavy setrecruit couldn’t control his momentum going down....he comes flying by yelling “gang way...runaway private”. He makes it about 10 yards past me and begins to tumble...fricked his ankle up pretty good, but it was kinda funny watching it happen...Alice pack and all his gear flying all over the place.
