That's peanuts compared to the amount of prisoners that won't be jailed because of weed, and the cops needed to try to enforce indefensible laws.

It took a Herculean effort just to get a meager cannabis oil bill passed this year. Sure, it's a no-brainier. But the legislature has no brain and would literally rather gut LSU than legalize pot.

should legalize prostitution too

I don't Beleive that it is by definition but the fed Gov started blocking the large online sites saying it' illegal for them to do business with players in the us. There are some small online places to play but those sites seem a little shady IMO. Recently NJ passed a law to legalize online poker allowing the lage players to come into their market. If LA can offer this and tax the companies that participate it would bring in a revenue stream other then legalizing marijuana

Will y'all use your EBT cards to buy pot?

Is it really going to add that much revenue? If people spend their disposable income on that instead of something else isn't it a wash?

$400/ounce is about what good weed costs. The black market will evaporate, and people will start getting their bud from the weed store instead.
I feel that you grossly underestimate how many people smoke.

LOL! Jesus Christ, you are severely misinformed.

How so?
Think about it like this.
How many phones calls do you think you would have to make to get someone to sell you some weed. Compare that number to how many people you think you would have to contact to find someone to sell you a black market case of beer.
There very well may be a small black market for booze but its microscopic when compared to the legal distribution of alcohol.
If you still think I'm misinformed, go to a legal state and try to find a black market dealer. Then compare that effort to how much effort it takes to just go down to the local weed store.

Because the government is going to tax the shite out of it. Dopers have been begging to legalize it, and welcome taxing it, but when the rubber meets the road, you'll head to the hood to pay cheaper prices.
The black market for marijuana is far from dead in Colorado.

I bet you know this because you have tried to buy black market weed in Colorado, right?

While I agree weed should be legalized, justifying legalization by increasing gov't revenues doesn't do it for me.

You don't know what you're talking about

Well, no. Why don't you try researching the subject with a quick Google search instead of pulling nuggets out of your arse?
There will always be a black market for alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. The black market for alcohol (in my personal experience) is more linked to not paying taxes on alcohol for sale in bars, i.e. no tax stamp, they just buy that shite off the shelves and sell it.

That's damn right! That being said, good luck getting past the alcohol lobby that is deeply rooted in Louisiana politics

I could see the Louisiana legislature doing just like they did with medical marijuana.
Legalize marijuana and don't provide for dispensaries.

Yep. Nothing like putting my life in a precarious situation for something that I can get out of the store.

Your white privilege is showing.
Other people who have to scrimp and steal to get their dope money will buy it in the hood instead of waltzing into a neckbeard pot palace, paying five times more.
