My point was, if people want to have the freedom to put whatever toxins in their body that they want, which I am completely for “in theory”, then they should also have the freedom to suffer the consequences of their choices without society having to carry them.

Why do you draw the line at "toxins" and no other risky activity?

I don’t.

Why do you assume that I would?

This thread is about “toxins”.

I am not going to reference every single situation.

Also, despite your response to the “withdrawal” post, marijuana has withdrawal symptoms…and is addictive.

There is a plethora of research that is both old and new that shows this.

“Withdrawal” does not imply “deadly”, like we see with alcohol, heroin, etc.

Caffeine has withdrawal symptoms, and much like caffeine, I am not arguing marijuana should be illegal.

It should be treated, socially, the same way we treat alcohol and cigarettes.

Your posts in this thread.

Playing sports is risky. Should you be barred from using health insurance/medicare/medicaid if you injure yourself playing golf or tennis?

So you are in favor of a GIGANTIC increase in social acceptance and public use of marijuana?

Agree.

A lot of people that do weed want to pretend it is better than alcohol or cigarettes, when it isn't.

IDC what they do, but don't piss on my boots and tell me it's raining.

Where did I say you shouldn’t have health insurance?

If you are paying for your own health insurance, you can do what you want.

What exactly are you arguing that I am saying?

As for using governmental services, yes they should have restrictions on what you can and cannot do.

I like how you, and another poster, picked the exact same type of activity though.

No, you don’t pick the most common situation, i.e. drugs, alcohol, smoking, obesity, activities that result in massive healthcare expenses and are a huge burden on America.

No, you pick the injury from golf and tennis, as if that is the most common situation faced by these individuals.

There clearly is zero nuance in your mind.

This is like the abortion argument of “you want incest rape babies to be born”.

Pick a small percentage situation and play it up as THE situation.

That is the issue I have with most laws. It doesn’t have to be completely legal for everyone but they should make exceptions for actual medical care as opposed to extremely dangerous opioids for acute pain
It already is in 80% of states. Once the TX law goes into effect, over 90% of Americans will live in places with medicinal cannabis access.
