Way to leave out the part about him shooting himself.

Something tells me that if he didn't have access to gun he wouldn't be dead. Pot or no pot.

When family members left the condo Goodman refused to join them. After they left he got a handgun that he typically traveled with for protection, and turned it on himself.
So after describing him as being totally incoherent and not recognizing their presence in the room they leave him alone with a fricking handgun?
And then they blame the whole thing on weed, classic

but you hear all the time about drunks killing other people.
Edibles carry a higher risk than smoking it, b.c of the delayed response. They need to do a better job educating people that it can take a few hours to feel the effects.

Fair enough. I've not smoked or consumed pot on a regular bases since the 80's and at all since the 90's so I'm totally out of the loop on the ins and outs. If you're finding parts of the story that are inaccurate, I'd genuinely like to know what they are so I can gain a little knowledge on the subject.

Yes, I wanted to hide the fact he shot himself. That's why I gave a link to the entire article.

Man this is the truth. Back in like 08 I was at a super bowl party where they made some weed cookies and brownies. Had some good shite in there. I ate one and didnt feel a thing so I said frick it and had some more. An hour later I was pretty fricked up and felt the effects through the next morning. good times.

quote:The biggest problem with the article is the overall tone. The article mentions his suicide in one sentence and never discusses any possible history of mental disorder. Marijuana does not make you want to kill yourself, at least at the level of dosage that is fairly normal for an experienced smoker.

The article is totally aimed at painting a new picture of "The Killer Marijuana Plant". The kid killed himself.

That's bullshite. I'm on record here on the OT as being pro-legalization. But apparently there is some risk associated with eating too many of these edibles and the result being what looks to be a psychotic episode. Geeze, some of you stoners are too fricking sensitive to anything negative about pot.
I've said many times that if something gets legal pot shut down it will be edibles because people are to stupid to read labels and heed warnings. My brother works in a pot shop and they go out of there way to warn people on the delayed effects. I also think it's impossible for someone not to see the warning label on the child resistant container the edibles come in. It's very easy to see the warning.
What happens is people like this don't listen to the multiple warnings, eat to much and then it hits them hard two hours later and they have a panic attack. A panic attack will never kill you, your body won't shut down.
His family is shitty for leaving someone in obvious distress alone. The kid Made a mistake by not listening to the multiple warnings he received and his parents are looking for someone to blame for a senseless loss.
If you took a whole bottle of just about any OTC or prescription product you pick up at your local friendly Walgreens you could expect the same result. Difference is the pot didn't kill him or put his body into liver failure like Tylenol would.
Him having a panic attack, easy access to a weapon, and nobody to look after him killed him.

i see it all the time when ppl come to visit in CO. I don't feel anything, I will have another.
I gave a candy to some dude, and he said he didn't feel it, I told him to wait. He said no, and asked for another.
I saw him the next morning and he said he was still high. It was funny too b.c it was in a work mtg and you could see that he was fricked out of his gourd throughout the meeting.

the family is just a group of stupid entitled fricks wanting to move responsibility off of them and their son and onto the evil marijuana plant.

This dude clearly just had issues. No stable, rational person decides to kill themselves because they're high.
I think in most cases you are right but I experienced one far out episode when I smoked way to much where I just went somewhere else is the best way I can explain it. I definitely was not in control of my thoughts or actions. Luckily my friends helped me out and did not just leave me like the dude in Keystone. I've also had, on occasion really bad panic attacks consuming marijuana . I support legalization but people should know that it is not completely harmless and should be used responsibly.
Posted on 3/26/15 at 11:50 am to bigberg2000
Can we say that the edible pot was the cause but the responsibility lies with careless consumption? And a dumb family?
