Looks nice. Buddy of mine is getting married soon. May ask him if he would like to go here for his bachelor party or I may just surprise him and take him here.

I have low friends in high places .. You don't hire the second in command and casino hosts from the Hard Rock and not have intentions to open a casino. It's probably the worst kept secret on the coast.

Yeah, WLOX was there all this morning.
The owners, same that own the White House Hotel, poured a good bit of money into the dump that was Casino Magic. It could be a cool place to bring the fam, but I can see it get old quick. Gambling was always in the cards...In the off season, when the pool closes, video games won't support the loan. I hope it survives, we'll see if this iteration is 3rd times the charm. Till then, I've got my seat picked out [/img]
And not to turn this into a F&D post, someone else can write the review, but the lava nachos app is ridiculous [/img]

I do like the little town though. It's a place I would consider to move when retired.
Don't... Stay away. The coast doesn't want you.

This guy needs to be in a resort. Making wise entertainment choices is not his strong suit.

This resort is more in line with what they originally wanted to do. The economy tanked, and they settled for a small location on the back bay that had no amenities outside of a couple of places to eat and a small music venue.
The original project in 2007 was budgeted at around $700 million. This isn't anywhere near that size of a project. That one was proposed by Harrah's before they went bankrupt. The one that was built and then closed was another investor. This new project is a local investor.
We took a day trip there today to see what they did. The arcade area is very nice. Wide open spaces and a ton of unique games. Me, my wife and daughter had a good time. No better don then any big modern arcade concept however. Other than that the place is pretty awfully executed.
I've stayed at hotels when they first open, ate at new places in the first week, etc. and understand that sometimes things are still being completed although I don't understand why a business invests millions of dollars into something and opens before it is 100%. This place is not 100%. It actually isn't just an issue of of things not being completed some things were downright run down looking already.
Entering the parking area was very confusing. The signs aren't clear and you could tell people couldn't figure it out. The parking garage is so tight that all the Mississippi baws were holding up lines within the garage because they couldn't make the turns in their lifted crew crab trucks. I'm pretty sure someone is going to lose a pair of truck nuts over this. The place wasn't even packed. I can't imagine how the garage will be on July 4th weekend.
Overall it felt as if Carnival Cruise Lines ran ashore. Poor execution. Mississippi locals crowd. Everything on a cheap budget. Hopefully this is just phase one and they plan on rolling out better product in phase two if it happens. Jimmy Buffet is a money whore for allowing his name to be used on this and the past project on on the coast. I would think he would want to protect his brand more than this.
It appears that there are three places to eat, a bar built in to the pool and another poolside bar. Only two of the dining places were open. We tried to go to one which was 1/3 full and was told there would be a wait so we left.
Elevator in the garage:

That's pathetic. I kind of expect to deal with some trash and low grade service due to this chain, but they shouldn't open if they aren't ready.
We just booked a night in late July so I hope they have their shite together by then.

We booked rooms this weekend to hang out at the pool. We drove 2.5hrs down there only to be told the pool wasn't open. Ticked me off. They could have told me that on the phone when I booked. I won't be back. Hotel looked very cheaply done from what I saw.
Save your money. Hard Rock or Beau Rivage still best casino/hotels down there.
