Where I lived in Pineville you very seldom smelled the papermill.

Everything smelled like Tide or Gain from the P&G plant.

A coworker was dating a chemE who worked at The GP plant outside of Port Hudson. I asked how they manage working in that horrid smell all day. She said the stacks were designed to be just high enough that none of that smell makes it back to ground level within the site.

Alexandria where I49 runs parallel to the rail yard. The old mothball smell was a bouquet of flowers compared to the smell now.

Grew up in Mansfield and when the when you were downwind from International Paper it was bad. However, I think Jonesboro’s mill smelled worse.

One that beats all of yours…Dodge City, Kansas…there is an actual historical overlook of the feedlot and no matter the wind direction, your nasal system is viciously assaulted by the aromas of bovine excrement.

The paper mill stench rarely, if ever, comes into the Mansfield city itself.

It’s a battle between Monroe and Bogalusa depending on wind direction and nothing else comes close.

Another vote for Amarillo. No way to hide the smell from the stockyards when the wind blows.

Chicken processing plants can compete with paper mills.

Amarillo smells like cow shite. Each breath while outside is like inhaling cow shite.

Drive up further north to Dalhart and it's even worse with the Cargill pig farms. The locals are fond of describing the stench as "the smell of money."
