MD Anderson can work wonders, and since your doc is working with them you should be prioroty for experimental drugs as they come out. I have a lot of experience and can tell you the fight ain’t over, as you already know - just pumping you up a bit. Control what you can control, You got this brother!

Its seriously weird being on the receiving end of these kinds of offers, especially when for the last 30 years I was always the one giving them. I've had friends reaching out to me wanting to buy me stuff and it's just awkward as hell . Finally broke down and put some silly little stuff like protein shakes and stuff like that on Amazon to get them off my back.

Truth is, I'm set up for this. I've got lots of family here and nearby so they've got my back if I need anything through it all. I appreciate all of the offers, I really do - but mostly what I'm going to need is prayers and encouragement when chemo knocks me down.

And yeah, I just came in from working 10-15 hours a day driving and loading/unloading freight all over the country but in a couple of weeks I'll get winded just walking to the end of my driveway. Hopefully once this is over and before I go back to work I'll spend 6-8 weeks in rehab getting my stamina back up. During chemo I'll spend the off days trying to keep my stamina up as much as possible, the physical impact of this stuff is ridiculous.

You got this brother. Cancer survivor here. Diagnosed at 33.

ETA

I have experienced those emotions you are feeling now. Give it a few days. It is normal. That "frick this, let's go" fighting feeling will hit soon.

Same. I had colorectal cancer 2 years ago at 37. Have gone through 2 major surgeries, 13 rounds of chemo and radiation. You got this! Just remember it does finally end, just keep fighting the fight and keep positive thoughts!

I’m overdue for my first colonoscopy. The experiences of horsemeat and others in this thread resulted in my calling to schedule an appointment this morning.

I forget the exact number, but my surgeon told me 90% of colorectal cancer is preventable with a colonoscopy. Apparently they can catch polyps early enough and remove them before they can develop into anything threatening.

Colonoscopy really isn’t bad, just the prep is nasty. Then you ride the Michael Jackson drug into bliss for a few hours.
