Looks like Dale Smith is in the same basic industry:

The irony is pretty thick here.

That dude's blood alcohol level should be really interesting. Even though he got shot and will be publicly humiliated, since he didn't hit anyone, I imagine he'll get a DWI, a ticket for driving the wrong way down a one-way street and obedience to police officers charge (which I believe is how refusing to following instruction of police directing traffic is termed in Louisiana). It won't be too bad for him (other than the bullet).

Get in the drivers view but don’t get in front of the car. Once in front any movement of the car and his life is in danger and he has to shoot. Not saying that he shouldn’t have shot in this situation at all more of a general comment.

Would they throw attempted murder or something like that at him since it could be argued he was trying to run over an officer?

So the guy who says the cops just shot him without warning, while he was slowly creeping down the street is also in the parking business.

Wonder the chances he knows him and just tried to play innocent third party from DFW to give a witness account to benefit his buddy.

I don't think so since it would be hard to prove that and judging from his speed he wasn't trying to do that, but was horribly under the influence of alcohol and possibly something else. They will probably add a reckless operation of a vehicle charge I suppose though. Even that is usually pretty minor in Louisiana though. If he would have hit somebody, then he probably would have been in much worse shape. The officer might have done him a favor if he was going to eventually hit people.

Is that the same Dale Smith or just a Dale Smith from Dallas?

What he was booked with:

quote:

Eric Kullander, 42, was booked into Orleans Justice Jail after being released from the hospital Saturday, according to LSP spokesman Monroe Dillon. Kullander is accused of resisting an officer with force or violence, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and one-way roadway violation, Dillon said.

Thanks. I don't think they listed the charges on the story I read when they named the guy who was arrested. That sounds about right on the charges (though no DWI or DUI is listed yet). The officer-related charges basically seem like the same charge. Resisting an officer with violence can get a year or a little more in some cases though. Dude is lucky he didn't hurt or kill someone and he is lucky that he is still alive.

No way to know for sure, but he's definitely a Dale Smith from Fort Worth, TX (specifically... not just the Dallas area), and he's the only one I found on LinkedIn.

He didnt shoot because he was in front of the vehicle. He shot to stop the driver before he ran over pedestrians.

He moved to the front and tried to get the vehicle to stop and when it didnt he moved to the side and fired through the side window.

I thought he did a great job...gave the driver ample opportunity to stop but still stopped the driver before he ran over someone.

Update on the blood alcohol level of the guy:

"Toxicology results for the 42-year-old Kullander show his blood alcohol level measured.416% when he turned onto Bourbon Street Thursday night (May 30) and traveled against traffic toward a crowd of pedestrians, state police said Tuesday. The legal limit is .08.

That's an impressive score even for a New Orleans drunk. I think he just set a new bar...probably didn't even feel the bullet.

I just stalked him out of fb and noticed his daughters Goto McGehee which is not a cheap school. Anyone have the inside scoop on this guy?

I gotcha. There are certain things I like about both places, but there are things that definitely suck about both as well.

I don't, but I know his blood is extremely flammable. The guy who crashed into 30+ people a few years back had a blood alcohol content of .232 or something like that. This dude was somehow at .416. He most likely would have rammed or run over some people if the cop hadn't shot him.
