Ace, see my response a few posts above yours.
I cannot discern an answer to a relatively simple question.
It is clear that you want us to unilaterally "concede" on the magazine capacity issue, and then, I assume "negotiate" away pistol grip, collapsible stock, bayonet lug, flash "hider", barrel shroud, etc.
But before we get there assuming we give up our 11+ capacity magazines (we take the slackster position and say, "Fine. Show of good faith. We agree to give up 11+ magazines"), do you agree with the cops keeping theirs?
A simple yes or no will suffice.
Yes - you think the cops should keep theirs (if we give up ours), or
No - you think the cops should give up theirs if we do.

Do you feel like this is an ok gun with reasonable magazine capacity?

Since we can't see the magazine there how many rounds does it have in it?

Depends - you shooting .22 shorts, longs or long rifle?

I actually have that marlin in stainless with the barrel cut down and stock painted bright yellow.
It's due for it's fourth firing pin replacement. That damned high capacity makes it so easy to burn through ammo.

Who shoots 22 shorts through the Marlin 60? Can you even?
Posted on 6/22/16 at 3:09 pm to lsu480
Mine cannot.
I have an old school alluminum pump remington that will cycle anything from cb caps on up.

I don't know, I was just trying to answer the question.

I think they'll fire, but probably not very accurately and won't cycle the action.

I know what it is, I just didn't think slackster would have any idea.
Posted on 6/22/16 at 3:11 pm to lsu480
Yeah I don't think you can shoot shorts out of it. They won't cycle.
the 14 or 18 answer is just depending on length of the gun

You would probably have to go out of your way to find .22 shorts - I'm sorry I derailed that part with my facetiousness.
Hell, for that matter, you'd probably have to know someone who knows someone to get .22 longs in today's market, although I can remember a time they were on the shelf at regular old stores.
It's hell getting old.

.22 longs? I guess I only look for .22 LR now, but I can't recall the last time I saw .22 longs or shorts on the shelf for sale.

It's easy to think you are wrong because you actually are wrong. The Heller and McDonald Supreme Court cases happened because of the hardline approach. If you actually understood this issue you'd see that anything less than the hardline approach means losing more gun rights.
Sorry I had to get some work done, but it's obvious I'm not making myself clear. I understand the legal side of the argument and I understand that you can lean on that and call it a day. I'm not arguing against that in the slightest and I don't want that to change.
My contention is that public discontent is going to build every time these things happen. I believe alot of that is based on an uneducated and emotional populace, but I also believe those people would be more apt to hear you out and educate themselves if the message was delivered in a more compassionate and less arrogant manner. I'm not talking about anti-gun loons, I'm talking about Joe Q. Public.
You and I know a custom AR-15 is not markedly more dangerous than a traditional hunting rifle, but that's not the case for most people. Most people confuse it with military grade assault rifles. Most people think it is an automatic. You're not going to get very far educating people when you tell them they're stupid for being scared or intimidated, yet that approach is taken time and time again.
You don't have convince me of anything - I get it. If everyone was like me no gun would be off limits. For the time being you don't have to convince America either, and you can rest on the Supreme Court for now, but remember that they're human too. Don't kid yourself thinking that their personal bias doesn't influence their rulings.

So are you backtracking on your "compromise" premise?
Pro gun folks just need to be nice? Is that your contention?

No shite, it shows up as a spike in historical polling data. Know what else shows up? A prolonged decrease in the desire for more gun regulation in the months afterwards which usually returns the majority to the proper perspective. Gun-control advocates are dishonest sharks, you don't compromise with them and put blood in their water.

There were 49 dead and 50-something injured. Did they ever confirm that every non-lethal injury was caused by bullet? There could have been broken bones, twisted ankles, etc. from jumping the fence, bruised bones and body parts from trampling, etc.
Posted on 6/22/16 at 7:20 pm to GRTiger
They probably aren't sure that every lethal injury was caused by the terrorist.
