Take it up with the voters. The cops did their jobs.

You are right, they did their job. It's becoming the cops job to kill people and dogs who threaten or resist. We finally agree on something.

Actually, politicians do, but their authority is derived from the voters so...

...the buck stops at the voters.

The difference between cop-haters like me and cop-haters like Kracka and Cricket is that I fight for civil liberties and they fight for anarchy.

I see your point and while it's valid, my point is this:

We (American Public) have gotten so fed up with crime we have allowed police to become way too aggressive. We have given away our Constitutional rights while police continue to add ridiculous weapons to their arsenal, even though crime continues to fall to historic lows.

Cops are bitching about legalization of pot for one reason: loss of funding. We have allowed police departments to become profit centers, with law enforcement a secondary or in some cases, a tertiary responsibility.

Asset forfeiture is another thread but it's OOC as well.

I don't have a disconnect, I have a healthy distrust of actions taken by cops that lead to the deaths of citizens, no matter their perceived guilt.

That is the way it is and has always been around the world. In order to prevent anarchy you must have law and there must be some entity tasked with enforcing the law. I, like you, believe there are far too many laws in our country and our state but that does not make the laws go away.

With the emergence of video on phones and the internet police work is more closely watched and monitored thn at any other time in the history of the world. I realize you want to believe you live in the worst of times but that simply is not true. Don't feel badly as everyone suffers from the "I walked uphill both ways to school syndrome" to some degree. Cops are more accountable thn at any time in the history of our planet. If you want to experience real injustice go and smart off to a Mexican cop.

I completely agree with you on all points.

I don't think any of them apply to this particular thread. That's my only point.

I don't actually fight for anything. I just want people to be held accountable for their actions. It's obvious that this guy, now dead, was being held accountable. The shitty part about this, is the cops wont. They'll be given some kind of fricking accommodation, and placed on some bullshite suspension. Cops are rarely, even when caught on tape, rarely ever held accountable if ever.

Well, most politicians are lawyers. And I assure you that those who actually author the bills come from legal backgrounds.

Oh, does it? With all of the gerrymandering and propaganda about what laws cause what problems, I am amazed most even know who the candidates are and what they stand for.

That is a total fallacy. I see this written here all of the time but it is simply false. Cops are fired every single day just as they are jailed when they break the law. If a cop breaks the law it is no different from anyone else and he is tried before our court system. Some of you have a misguided belief that other cops simply say "he did nothing wrong just suspend him" and the case is closed. That is ludicrous and patently untrue. Whenever there is a homicide a criminal investigation is performed and if someone is guilty they are charged by the D.A.

All I'm hearing is "at some point some cops did some bad shite somewhere and got away with it, now I get pissed at every cop even when they do the right thing".

Cops are generally dicks, but if you want improvement then don't punish the ones actually doing the job correctly. It's not like they used excessive force with this 400 lbs dude.

This is all cute, but is leading down a debate that has nothing to do with the matter at hand which is, namely, this fat arse illegally took on a fight he couldn't handle and died from it.

I'm not going to blame the guys doing their job because this guy couldn't stay on weight watchers.
