A passenger was detained by police officers at London Stansted Airport yesterday after the man was spotted carrying an iPhone case shaped like a firearm (via BBC News).

Essex Police shared a picture of the gun-shaped case over Twitter and implied that the individual could have put his own life in danger by carrying the case around an airport terminal.

This can't be a real tweet from a real police department, right?

I mean come on.

There's no way that man did not know what he was doing. Attention whoring at its finest.

That's a novelty case that you see in some tourist trap and you show it to your dad or buddy and have a laugh. If you buy it and wear it to the airport, you know full well what you are doing.

1) attention whoring
2) to cause panic
3) to be a douche
4) so he could come back and go on media blast when he gets tackled, arrested, and possibly shot by the cops. "OMG my rights were violated and i didn't even pull a gun on them. anybody should've know that was a fake!" of course #4 is much less likely to happen since it's not in U.S.

A genius would say "too bad one can't be charged for being an idiot", but I'm sure you already know that.
