Man arrested for planning to kidnap Obama family dog

WASHINGTON - A North Dakota man was arrested in Northwest D.C. after he allegedly planned to kidnap one of the Obama family’s pets, according to court documents.

Secret Service agents took Scott Stockert into custody Wednesday at the Hampton Inn located at 901 6th Street. He arrived in the District alone, driving a pick-up truck from North Dakota.

Court documents did not provide more details on the kidnapping plot or specify which pet he planned to take. The first family has two dogs, Bo and Sunny.

When agents searched Stockert’s truck, which was parked at 501 K Street, they found a shotgun and a rifle, both unloaded. Stockert did not have a registration for a firearm in any jurisdiction, according to court documents.

In addition to the firearms, authorities say they found 289 rounds of .22 caliber long rifle bullets, 71 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition and two rounds of .223 rifle ammunition.
A machete with a 12-inch blade and an 18-inch billy club were also recovered from the pick-up truck.

During Stockert’s interview with agents, he allegedly stated that his parents were John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. He also said that he came to D.C. to go to the Capitol to advocate for $99 per month healthcare and to announce that he was running for transport.
As he was being transported, Stockert allegedly claimed to be Jesus Christ.

According to court documents, he also stated, "You picked the wrong person to mess with. I will (expletive) your world up."
